Description

Sodium Chloride with chemical formula of NaCl, is a pure grade of sodium chloride salt. It is widely used as weighting agent in water-based muds, oil-based muds, completion fluids and work-over fluids. The minimum purity of Sodium Chloride is 97%.

Advantages

  • High purity
  • High solubility in water
  • Very common Product
  • Cost effective

Applications

  • Sodium Chloride is widely used in drilling fluid industry as weighting agent to adjust the density of muds up to 10.0 lb/gal (1.2 S.G).
  • Low-density completion or work-over fluid are preferably prepared using Sodium Chloride due to its availability and low-cost.
  • In drilling salt layers, using muds with high content of dissolved Sodium Chloride is highly recommended.
  • Using Sodium Chloride increases shale inhibition of muds with lowering Cation Exchange Capacity.
